In yet another history creating feat by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the world’s newest highest motorable pass is now at Mig La, 19,400 feet above the sea level in Ladakh.

Announcing this on Monday the 6th of October 2025, the Indian Army stated that the new highest motorable pass is actually a part of a elaborate Likaru-Mig La-Fukche alignment in the Eastern Ladakh region.

This stretch holds strategic significance for India as this forms a third key axis to Fukche village near the Tibetan-Chinese borderline.

And it also promises to boost tourism in Ladakh, offering breathtaking views of the Indus Valley.

The Army spokesperson added that this historic opening pass at Mig La, at an crazy height of 19,400 ft is part of the Project Himank of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and has surpassed its own Guinness World Record  which was held for Umling La (19,024 feet) set in 2021.

Before first vehicles that were allowed to pass through the Mig La pass, the Tricolour at the site was hoisted by BRO team led by Brig Vishal Srivastava.
